Touch Grass Tote

Description:

This is a 100% cotton canvas tote bag that is block-printed.  Each bag is printed with an inked hand-carved block making them unique and one-of-a-kind; no two bags are alike.  

Inspiration: 

Throughout the pandemic I watched streamer, HealthyGamerGG, and "Touch Grass" was something that stuck with me.  Today it can be used as an insult but, the core meaning resonates more so with me.  "Touch Grass" means logging off/putting down your phone/technology to go outside and experience the real world.  As someone who has struggled with social media addiction I find this phrase a very important reminder to live my life without the presence of my phone. 

Process:

I drew out this design on a piece of loose paper.  From there I rubbed the graphite onto a rubber block so the design transferred onto the surface.  Then I carved out the design using Lino cut tools.  Once the designed was finalized, I used a brayer to apply ink to the block and printed directly onto the tote bags.
